Job Description
Requirements
Holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with B pass in Medical Pathology and a minimum overall GPA of 3.8 from a recognized Institution. Applicants must be registered and recognized as general practitioner by Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
Key Responsibilities
- This is a training post; the staff is required to undergo a Master’s Degree training programme.
- To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before.
- To understudy senior members, including attending lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical training.
- To conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals.
- To assist in research, consultancies and outreach activities.
- To perform any other duties that the relevant authorities may assign

The University Background History
Dodoma City is located in the centre of the country (6°10’23’’S; 35°44’31’’E), 455 km west of the former capital, Dar es Salaam; and 441 km south of Arusha City, the cradle of the East African Community. It is also 259 km north of Iringa Municipality through Mtera. The City covers an area of 2,669 km2 of which 625 km2 is urbanised.
Dodoma features a semi-arid climate with relatively warm temperatures throughout the year. Although average maximums are consistent throughout the year, average minimums drop to 13°C in July. The average annual precipitation is 570 mm, most of which occurs during the wet season between November and April, with the remainder of the year comprising dry season.
The recently refurbished Dodoma Airport and the Central Railway Line connecting it over a distance of 465 km with Dar es Salaam serve the city. There are also major highways connecting Dodoma with Dar es Salaam (via Morogoro Region) to the east, Mwanza City (via Singida) to the west, and Arusha (via Kondoa) to the north.
The University is located about 8 km east of the city centre, and is accessible by public transport, which is easily available from the city centre. Given the central location of Dodoma, UDOM is strategically positioned to serve applicants around the country and specifically Government and private sector employees living in Dodoma, who hitherto could not find training opportunities in the area. Such employees can comfortably utilise UDOM to combine work and study for their career advancement. Additionally, the geographical location and Dodoma weather render UDOM a convenient place for international students.

The University Establishment
The University of Dodoma (UDOM) was established in the year 2007. It is located approximately 7 kilometers east of Dodoma city covering 6,000 hectares. It is the unique university in Tanzania because it is the largest in the country aiming at enrolling 40,000 students at a time when its infrastructures will be completed.
This University is a proud of Tanzania due to the fact that was whole built using domestic finances, and has a specific purpose of bringing positive impact on the development of our country and the world at large.
UDOM is built at the centre of the country and in the capital city of Tanzania. Thus, when you are in Dodoma city, whether during the day or night, you will be able to see some of the buildings of the University of Dodoma including the famous conference hall – Chimwaga decorating Rocky Mountains which are covered by the tropical climatic vegetation.
In its structure, the university is committed to provide knowledge and skills on different fields of study including health, engineering in (ICT, environment, and earth sciences), education, energy, technology, business, economy, languages, arts, development studies, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences and law. Different programmes have been designed for each field of study mentioned and these include: diploma, degree, masters and PhDs
Another thing that makes the University of Dodoma unique is its structure. The university has six (6) Colleges, (3) Schools and (2) Institutes in its campus each with different capacity of enrollment of students at a time. Again, each college is built in a separate area and all necessary services are available in each college.
